Apple May Raise Prices on Upcoming iPhones

Apple may raise prices on its upcoming iPhone models, expected this fall, amid rising production costs and shifting market conditions

However, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited anonymous sources, the company is trying to avoid implying that the price increases are related to the tariffs imposed by the United States on imports from China.

The report cited anonymous supply chain sources and reported that the company is contemplating linking the price increases to other developments, such as new features and designs.

It is anticipated that Apple will incur a $900 million expense in the third quarter due to increased tariffs. However, the company has not yet confirmed whether the U.S.-China trade conflict could affect the prices of its products. To reduce tariffs, the organization is currently importing a greater quantity of its iPhones from India than from China.

Nevertheless, the United States and China agreed on Monday to suspend their reciprocal tariffs against each other for 90 days to facilitate additional discussions. Additionally, the Trump administration has announced significant tariff exemptions for the technology sector, particularly emphasizing smartphones, laptops, hard drives, and semiconductor manufacturing machines. However, the previous 20% tariff on Chinese products remains in effect.

Multiple outlets have previously reported that Apple will introduce an ultra-thin iPhone this year.

Also, it is reported that the organization has more ambitious objectives for 2027. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may eliminate indentation on iPhones by 2027.

Bloomberg reported that the company intends to introduce a “curved iPhone” predominantly composed of glass and lacking any cutouts on the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. That would be appropriate, as Apple initiated its most recent significant redesign initiative with the iPhone X in 2017, coinciding with the smartphone’s tenth anniversary.
