PSG Announces Bitcoin Reserve Ahead of UCL Final

PSG Announces Bitcoin Reserve Ahead of UCL Final

PSG, European football giant, adopts Bitcoin as a treasury reserve, announced at Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas, marking a historic move for sports.

PSG became the first football club or sports organization to establish a Bitcoin treasury reserve, aligning with a prior report that institutions and companies across various sectors are investing in BTC.

PSG holds the Ligue 1 title in France and is set to compete in the UEFA Champions League final tomorrow in Munich.

“Last year, we incorporated Bitcoin into our financial records. We converted part of our Fiat reserve into Bitcoin, which remains on our books. As one of the world’s top clubs, we are the most significant sports entity to take this step,” stated Par Helgosson, head of PSG Labs.

The club’s spokesperson highlighted that nearly 80% of its 500 million fans are under 34 years old, making the club and its stakeholders eager to embrace this ‘new generation’ financial movement.

Earlier this week, GameStop, a publicly traded U.S. company, revealed its substantial Bitcoin acquisition, positioning it as the 13th largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.

With institutional adoption hitting record levels this month, Bitcoin soared to an all-time high of $111,800 last week. However, BTC has declined by over 5% as whales cash in on profits.
