A new glitch is causing Threads to repeat users’ own posts as replies, creating a literal echo chamber and raising fresh concerns about the platform’s moderation
We have heard it all: X is becoming a right-wing echo chamber, Bluesky is a liberal bubble, and so forth. However, these apprehensions have been realized due to a Threads glitch: All users repeat the same message.
In a bug that affects specific Threads users on desktop and mobile, it appears that a single user’s post will be replicated repeatedly, creating the illusion that all users on your feed are expressing the same thing.
According to a screenshot from social media expert Alexa Heinrich, one Threads user requested that Siri remove their subscription for 2025. However, Heinrich’s followers appeared to repeat the same corny joke, imploring Apple’s AI to rescue them from an endless news cycle of horrors.

Over the past few months, Meta’s applications have made a few errors; however, this Threads error is more silly than detrimental. In the interim, certain users inadvertently published their conversations with Meta AI onto a public feed last week, exposing personal information regarding medical issues, contact information, legal concerns, etc.

Meta Communications Director Andy Stone responded to app researcher Jane Manchun Wong’s post regarding the bug, even though the cause of the bug is not yet known.
“Whoops, well that clearly shouldn’t have happened! We’re working on getting it fixed now,” Stone said.
