Notion Finally Works Offline

Notion Finally Works Offline

For years, Notion users struggled with limited offline access due to its cloud-first design, but the new update finally makes working offline possible.

The company has ultimately resolved the issue by incorporating an offline mode into its applications.

This was one of the most requested features from users, as the company announced in a post on Tuesday, to the complete astonishment of no one.

Users can now view, revise, and create notes without an internet connection on Notion’s desktop and mobile applications. Additionally, the applications enable users to download documents for offline use.

The app will synchronize any modifications you have made to documents once you are back online. Nevertheless, some aspects like buttons, forms, or embeds rely on an internet connection.

Additionally, the application will automatically download your most recently viewed and favored pages if you are a member of Notion’s Plus, Business, or Enterprise plans.

The settings panel’s new “Offline” menu allows users to manage or turn off automatic downloads.

Ivan Zhao, the CEO of the company, stated in a thread on X that Notion was unable to release the feature for the past several years because the app utilizes a complex database to store various blocks and the company was required to develop a conflict resolution mechanism to manage instances where multiple individuals make changes to a document while working offline.
