Aethir Launches Decentralized Cloud Network on Ethereum Mainnet

The inauguration of Aethir on the Ethereum mainnet has drawn attention to the potential of DePINs in the future of Web3 and a more decentralized future.

Aethir, a provider of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs), has introduced its decentralized cloud computing network on the Ethereum mainnet.

Aethir’s GPU-as-a-service solutions network facilitates the contribution of inactive GPU resources by enterprises, data centers, other cloud providers, and cryptocurrency mining operators.

Mark Rydon, the co-founder, underscored the significance of the mainnet inauguration, stating:

“By providing a scalable framework for redistributing idle compute resources, we can empower more innovation in the rapidly evolving domains of AI, ML, and cloud gaming. On mainnet, high-quality enterprises can contribute to the Aethir network and increase access to the current supply of GPUs.”

The encryption and network functionality of Aethir

To assist in training artificial intelligence (AI) models or rendering digital content at scale, enterprises and developers can rent computation resources from the Aethir network of providers.

Aethir utilizes Ethereum’s staking capability and Arbitron (ARB) for rapid payments to compute providers and community rewards for checker nodes to enforce quality assurance through the native ATH token.

Additionally, the security of DePIN’s ecosystem, network governance, and staking protocols are all facilitated by Aethir’s ATH.

Rydon explained the encryption measures that are in place to safeguard data transmission security during an interview with Cointelegraph:

“We use full-channel encryption technology to ensure that only users can transmit and view data during use, and no third party can crack and open it. The encrypted channel will be closed at the end of use to protect the absolute security of user data.”

Mainnet safety and testnet success

Alongside a $146 million node transaction and support from NVIDIA, Super Micro, HPE, and Foxconn, Aethir’s testnet phase surpassed 500,000 users.

Rydon provided Cointelegraph with the following information regarding Aethir’s data security and privacy measures:

“In terms of network security, such as network access control and anti-DDoS, special hardware firewalls protect data security. The customer is always the owner and user of the data, and the cloud platform ensures its security and confidentiality. This data is secure and confidential not only to external visitors but also to internal visitors.”

De-DePIN-ing the Web3 architecture

Despite the technology’s availability for several years, the DePIN narrative continues to acquire momentum in the Web3 space.

When discussing the function of DePIN in Web3, Rydon stated:

“DePIN’s architecture itself has good high availability and fault-tolerant basic capabilities. Distributed computing power avoids the problem of service nodes being too centralized, resulting in insufficient single-point service capability and low fault tolerance rate.”

DePINs have the potential to revolutionize the internet and disrupt Big Tech by allowing individuals to provide their labor or resources and receive micropayments.
