AI Tokens Rise After Franklin Templeton Announcement

AI tokens have spiked after a Franklin Templeton report forecasted that AI agents will transform content creation on social media.

Following a recent Franklin Templeton report that anticipated that AI agents would revolutionize content generation on social media, several AI tokens based on artificial intelligence have experienced a surge.

Franklin Templeton wrote in a report on AI agents on January 14 that “we can envision a future in which AI agents revolutionize content generation on social media and play an integral role across various industries and platforms.”

“These agents, similar to the human influencers of today, have the potential to establish their brands, products, music, movies, and more, thereby contributing substantial economic value to their ecosystems,” it continued.

AI agents or agentic Artificial intelligence systems that demonstrate autonomous decision-making and goal-directed behavior are referred to as AI.

They are capable of independently comprehending intricate objectives, executing multi-step reasoning processes, making decisions, and taking actions with minimal human intervention.

Nevertheless, the Franklin researchers stated that AI agents were still in the early phases of development.

“Although these agents are not yet fully autonomous, and have little utility in their current state, this emerging sector may hold significant promise and is worth watching closely as it evolves and matures,”

The report was commented on by AI researcher “s4mmy,” who stated, “Crypto enables agents to have full control of their finances.”

He then concluded, “DeFAI is just getting started; as onchain agentic solutions evolve and swarm infra emerges, this will become THE catalyst for this crypto cycle.”

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, predicted in January that AI agents could “materially alter the output of companies” by 2025 once they “join the workforce.”

AI Tokens Are Pumped

In response, the ai16z (AI16Z) and Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) AI tokens, which were mentioned in the Franklin Templeton report, have experienced a surge.

On January 15, VIRTUAL exceeded $3 during early trading, registering a daily increase of over 8%.

In the interim, ai16z, an investment DAO managed by AI agents, experienced a 20% increase to reach an intraday peak of $1.40.

Other AI tokens were also performing well, with Near Protocol (NEAR) tickers down $4.97 and topping $5 following a 6.5% daily gain, Internet Computer (ICP) adding 5%, Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) tickers down $1.29 and topping $1.30, AIOZ Network (AIOZ) tickers down $0.9937 and adding 6%, and Freysa AI (FAI) surging 27% to reach $0.07, according to CoinGecko.
