Amazon has launched a more affordable Kindle Colorsoft, cutting costs on its color screen e-reader just a year after its original release.
The device is typically priced at $279.99; the updated device costs $249.99, with a $30 discount for 16GB of storage instead of 32GB. Additionally, a children’s edition is now accessible.
The original 7-inch Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition was created to enhance the visual experience of the popular Kindle e-reader, making it ideal for digitally perusing comics and other graphic novels or highlighting in various colors.
The device provided a glare-free, adjustable display with a battery life of up to eight weeks. Additionally, it enabled users to invert the pages’ black text and white background for those who prefer a dark mode-like experience.
The new 16GB model also boasts the high-contrast Colorsoft display of the original, as well as an adjustable warm illumination, fast page turns, and a longer battery life.
It comprises three months of Kindle Unlimited, a subscription that grants access to more than four million electronic books.
Nevertheless, it will not include the Signature Edition’s larger storage space, wireless charging, or auto-adjusting front illumination.

The Kindle Colorsoft Kids is delivered with an illustrated cover, a two-year guarantee, and a year of the Amazon Kids+ subscription, which provides access to various content, including books, games, videos, and applications.
The $269.99 device also includes various features that can assist children in practicing reading, such as a vocabulary builder and a Word Wise feature that helps them learn new words. Additionally, it includes Bluetooth connectivity for listening to audiobooks and the OpenDyslexic font.
