Amazon Music introduces a new AI-powered feature that allows users to browse podcast episodes by topic, enhancing their listening experience with more precise content discovery
Amazon Music has launched a new AI-powered feature called “Topics” on Tuesday. This feature enables users to investigate podcast episodes by the specific topics discussed in the episode.
Look for new Topic categories beneath the episode description when you access the podcast episode page. A list of related podcast episodes on the same topic can be accessed by tapping a tag.
This enables you to locate podcasts that cover specific subjects, such as “Dopamine” and “Coffee,” in addition to the standard categories of “News” and “Comedy.”
The company clarified that the new feature is fueled by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and depends on human labor.
The AI analyzes podcast transcripts and descriptions to identify critical topics, and human team members subsequently determine the appropriate keywords to add to the episode page.
Starting today, the feature is accessible to all Amazon Music subscribers in the United States on iOS and Android devices. It will be implemented on the most popular podcasts on Amazon Music, such as This American Life, SmartLess, and The Daily.
The company also intends to broaden the scope of Topics to include a greater variety of podcast content, resulting in a more comprehensive catalog of related podcast episodes and a broader selection of topics.
Maestro, an AI playlist generator that generates playlists in response to user input, is an additional AI-powered feature that Amazon Music is incorporating. This past April, the feature was debuted in beta.
Last year, Amazon’s acquisition of Snackable AI, an audio content discovery engine, was intended to improve the features of its podcasting venture. The new AI features are a result of this acquisition.
