Amazon has introduced a new $79 Echo Spot alarm clock with upgraded display and enhanced audio quality, marking the first update to the device since its debut in 2017

On Monday, Amazon introduced a new Echo Spot alarm clock priced at $79 that boasts enhanced audio quality and a redesigned appearance.

The organization implemented a display that permits users to verify the current time, weather conditions, or song playing. Additionally, Amazon installed an improved speaker at the device’s front.

It was stated that it produces a deeper bass and more precise vocals.

It is the first enhancement to the device since Amazon introduced the Echo Spot in 2017. The semicircle design was also present in the previous version, priced at $129 on Amazon.

However, it was equipped with a full-size display and a camera.

Amazon has announced that the new Echo Spot will be available for purchase at $44.99 for members of its $139-per-year Prime program until July 17, when the company will conduct its Mega Prime Day sale.

CNBC previously reported that Amazon is revising the Echo Spot in anticipation of a complete overhaul of Alexa, the voice assistant that powers its smart speakers.

The company typically makes many announcements regarding its Echo and Alexa lines at its fall event, generally conducted in September.
