Apple halts production of the ‘Wolfs’ sequel after trust concerns arise with the film’s director
It may be difficult to recall, but Apple released the film “Wolfs,” in which George Clooney and Brad Pitt co-starred, just two months ago.
Jon Watts, the writer and director of the film, announced on Friday that a sequel is no longer in the works. In a subsequent interview with Deadline, he elaborated that he “no longer trusted [Apple] as a creative partner…”
According to reports, the organization is reducing its film strategy. For instance, “Wolfs” was anticipated to receive a significant theatrical release; however, it was only shown in a restricted number of theaters for a single week prior to its release on Apple TV+.
Watts, who also developed the new Star Wars series “Skeleton Crew,” stated that Apple’s decision was “completely unexpected and was implemented without any prior notification or dialogue.”
Watts stated, “I was astonished and requested that they refrain from disclosing the information that I was composing a sequel.” “They disregarded my request and nevertheless disclosed it in their press release, seemingly in an effort to inflate the positive aspects of their streaming pivot.”
Consequently, Watts stated that he “quietly returned the money they gave me for the sequel” and canceled the project.
