Nvidia and Apple are reportedly engaging in discussions to participate in OpenAI’s forthcoming fundraising round, which may result in a valuation of $100 billion for the creator of ChatGPT
According to its sources, the New York Times stated that Thrive Capital, an investor in OpenAI, would be the primary entity in the event of a transaction.
(The WSJ broke the story of Apple’s prospective interest, while Bloomberg was the first to report Nvidia’s involvement.) Microsoft, which currently holds 49% of OpenAI, may also participate.
OpenAI requires capital. According to reports, the company’s annualized revenue surpassed $3.4 billion at the beginning of the year.
However, it is expected to incur a $5 billion loss by the end of the year as it expands its AI training and personnel projects.
Both organizations maintain associations with OpenAI. It primarily utilizes Nvidia GPUs to operate and train its generative AI models.
Conversely, Apple has agreed to incorporate ChatGPT into iOS as part of Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI features that will be released later this year.
