Apple Unveils Final Cut Pro, Camera for iPad 2

On Thursday, Apple announced the release of Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Camera, previously revealed at its May iPad event, along with enhancements for Final Cut Pro for Mac

The iPad version has been enhanced to capitalize on the new iPad Pro’s M4 processor. Apple claims the new chip supports up to four times as many ProRes RAW streams and facilitates up to two times faster rendering than the M1.

Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is introducing a new “Live Multicam” feature that enables users to connect and evaluate up to four cameras simultaneously wirelessly.

The latest Final Cut Camera app will provide users with manual control of their settings and a director’s view of each camera.

The new companion application enables users to establish connections between multiple iPhones or iPads. Final Cut Pro seamlessly transitions each Live Multicam angle from production to editing by automatically transferring and synchronizing it.

Live Multicam is powered by Final Cut Camera, which can also be used as a standalone recording app on iPhone and iPad. It enables users to modify various parameters, including manual focus, shutter speed, ISO, focus peaking, grid overlays, and more.

A feature that has been highly requested is also included in Final Cut Pro for iPad 2. This feature is support for external projects. Users can now generate new projects or access existing ones without occupying internal storage space.

Users will have access to new AI features in Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8. While a new “Smooth Slo-Mo” feature will blend video frames to enhance movement, a new “Enhance Light and Color” feature will automatically modify video for color correction.

A free update is now available for existing users of Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8. Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is priced at $4.99 per month or $49 per year for new users. Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 is priced at $299.99 and can be purchased from the Mac App Store.
