Apple’s Gen AI to Drop Soon, Might not Support iPhone 15

Apple’s Gen AI will drop soon in partnership with OpenAI, but this innovation might not be available to all users, specifically standard iPhone 15 users.

Apple is preparing to embark on the generative AI train that is raging ahead at the World Wide Developer Conference next week. Reports have indicated that a partnership with OpenAI is underway, which will, among other things, enhance Siri.

Bloomberg has reported a new round of rumors that provide additional insight into the information anticipated to be disclosed during the keynote at 10 a.m. PT on Monday. Apple Intelligence is the initial appellation. The corporation was committed to maintaining the AI initials for its attempt at the large language model (LLM) piñata.

The name indicates a more comprehensive initiative to enter the category, which could encompass the OpenAI partnership and the subsequent chatbot product. Apple Intelligence will be released as an opt-in beta, similar to the developer-focused operating system updates the company releases following WWDC. Upcoming iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions are expected to be included in the system.

According to the report, the system will also be compatible with a restricted number of older devices, such as iPads and Macs with an M1 microprocessor or higher, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro. This implies that the standard iPhone 15 may be overlooked in this instance.

Apple Intelligence will initially concentrate on enhancing existing applications. Things such as page summaries in Safari and notification summaries are included in this. Siri is undergoing a 2024 makeover, enabling her to access a broader range of features, including voice-activated photo editing. This news was previously reported. Apple’s significant investment in AI is less about glitz and more about enhancing its operating system’s user experience and intuitiveness.

The system will not operate exclusively on-device but rather a combination of local and cloud-based processes, contingent upon the intricacy of the task. This is despite the reported hardware limitations.
