Base announced that it had allocated developers who would work on blockchain projects from June to August of this year 600 ETH, or $2 million.
Cryptocurrency trading Layer-2 solution offered by Coinbase About 4 million users were active as of last week, with advancement on its “Onchain Summer” campaign.
The head of Base, Jesse Pollak, released data from Dune Analytics, indicating that the weekly active addresses on the layer-2 network hit a record high. Pollak emphasised that there were more than 4 million active addresses on the blockchain as of last week.
A new development has occurred Onchain Summer campaign continues to encourage building on the base network.
Base organised an “Onchain Summer” event in 2023 to encourage layer-2 network usage. Seven hundred thousand non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were created on the network by 268,000 wallets during the month-long event. Over 130,000 distinct wallets used the network daily, and over $242 million in cryptocurrency was bridged due to the promotion.
The summer event 2024 was revived in response to last year’s popularity to inspire developers to create blockchain-based applications. To “unleash onchain creativity,” it is bringing the event back and inviting developers to work on projects in the summer.
The layer-2 network said it had awarded prizes to individuals who will build on Base totalling 600 Ether ETH$2,636, or $2 million. The tournament will conclude in August, having begun in June.
Base worked with AtariX, the Web3 division of the video game producer, during the Onchain Summer campaign to bring iconic games to the network. AtariX revealed on July 25 that it would introduce its beloved arcade game via an “onchain” arcade. According to the game developer, gamers had to mint an NFT pass to play the game and place it highly on a leaderboard.
Some people contend that the Asteroids game was not onchain, though. Kautuk Kundan, founder and CEO of Stackr Labs, asserted on August 5 that he had breached Atari’s arcade game to demonstrate that it was not running on the blockchain.
Kundan claimed that he and his group had compromised the Atari Asteroids game leaderboard without actually playing any games. The CEO clarified that although the game is promoted as being onchain, it is not.
