Billy Markus, Dogecoin Co-Founder, Says No More Meme Coins

Dogecoin Co-Founder Billy Markus quits Meme coin creation as he criticizes Ethereum and Solana tokens for being mostly used for gambling.

Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, has explicitly stated that he will not collaborate on or establish any other cryptocurrency projects. Billy disclosed this information to the public earlier today. Additionally, he referenced the crypto project he established prior to Dogecoin.

Billy, who is referred to as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X, clarified that he has not been involved in any crypto projects since 2014. He had only created one crypto project, Bells, prior to the creation of Dogecoin in 2013. This project was ultimately unsuccessful.

He received numerous comments from his followers as a result of his decision not to participate in the development of a new crypto project. A user expressed that Billy has served as an inspiration for numerous meme coin initiatives and inquired as to what he would name a new meme coin if he were to develop one. Billy responded candidly that he would not be producing an additional meme coin.

Billy also addressed inquiries regarding the potential for MDOGE to be accepted as a form of payment on Mars in the future, similar to the way DOGE has already been utilized as a payment method on Earth. The software engineer responded that he did not believe Ethereum tokens were useful for payment due to the high gas fees. He observed that these tokens are primarily employed for gambling, similar to the Solana token.

Billy asserts that there are virtually no viable crypto projects at present, which renders it unappealing to initiate any significant project.

Additional Information Regarding Past Projects and Potential Market Influence

The co-founder of Dogecoin stated that any project that asserts his involvement is untrue. He provided additional information regarding the Bells coin that failed in response to inquiries on his post. Billy claimed that he developed the code for the Bells coin prior to concentrating on DOGE, a project that he and Jackson Palmer collaborated on.

He clarified that the current Bells project is entirely distinct from the one he created and operates on Ethereum. He maintained that the Bells of the past were entirely eradicated. Nevertheless, the most recent version is predicated on the original code that was developed 11 years ago. He declared:

“Keep in mind that the current Bells token was completely resurrected, the old blockchain was wiped out and a new one was started by others. The new one isn’t my project; it was just based on code I made 11 years ago.”

Billy also discussed the year in which Ethereum was established. He declared that any Ethereum token that asserts its creation in 2013 is a flagrant fabrication, as Ethereum itself was not developed until 2015.

Consequently, Markus’s decision to cease the development of new crypto projects may contribute to a negative perception of the cryptocurrency industry. His remarks regarding the numerous projects that lack value have the potential to exacerbate negative perceptions of the crypto market, thereby deterring new investors and developers from entering the field.
