Bitget Launches OmniConnect for Telegram Transactions

A new software kit, “OmniConnect,” has been released by Bitget Wallet. This kit enables users to connect Telegram mini-apps to multichain blockchains, including those compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Solana, and TON.

Bitget stated that the most recent software is designed to integrate Web3 technology with Telegram, thereby establishing Bitget Wallet as a critical participant in integrating decentralized technologies with social media.

What are Telegram Mini-Apps?

Telegram mini-apps are web-based applications initiated and managed directly within Telegram. Developers employ JavaScript to construct interfaces that have the potential to supplant conventional websites.

Similar to bots, Mini-apps incorporate payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay. The applications are being utilized for interactions more frequently, enabling users to access services without exiting the Telegram environment.

OmniConnect Will Allow Users to Conduct Transactions

Bitget Wallet stated that OmniConnect enables the mini-apps to utilize its wallet for transaction authentication and execution across multiple blockchain networks.

“Previously, Telegram mini-apps were restricted to interacting with the TON network, which made it challenging to engage with other public chains.”

“Bitget Wallet’s OmniConnect is designed to address this gap by facilitating seamless multichain interaction through Bitget Wallet,” stated Alvin Kan, Bitget Wallet’s COO.

Kan continues, “We are enthusiastic about collaborating with additional developers and blockchain ecosystems to establish a more vibrant and transparent Web3 environment on Telegram.”

Bitget Wallet reported nearly 2 million downloads in August 2024, underscoring its accelerated growth and popularity among users.

Users’ IP addresses will be disclosed to authorities by Telegram

Telegram’s terms of service were revised earlier this week. The messenger group has announced that it will now provide information to authorities who submit valid legal requests, such as search warrants.

The platform’s reputation has been established based on its robust privacy features, and this policy transition represents a significant development. Telegram had previously established itself as a staunch supporter of user privacy and security.

There are more than 700 million active Telegram users. It was frequently perceived as a sanctuary for individuals who desired encrypted communications not subject to government surveillance.

Nevertheless, the new policy implies that Telegram is prepared to collaborate with law enforcement under specific circumstances.
