Boston Pizza Unveils Budget-Friendly Version of Justin Sun’s $6.2M Banana Pizza

Justin Sun’s $6.2M banana purchase inspired Boston Pizza to parody the event by duct-taping a pepperoni slice to a wall in a playful X ad. The stunt mimics Maurizio Cattelan’s famous “Comedian” banana artwork.

Last month, Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, acquired and consumed the priciest banana in the world, which commanded a staggering $6.2 million in retail price. Boston Pizza, one of Canada’s largest pizza franchises, is currently engaging in a bit of promotional fun at Sun’s expense.

Similar to the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, who affixed a banana worth pennies to a white wall, christened it “Comedian,” and auctioned it as conceptual food art for a staggering $6.2 million, the company is currently running an advertisement on X featuring a slice of pepperoni pizza duct taped to a wall.

“We’re always looking at what’s going on in food culture and when we saw how much the banana art was going for, we decided to have a bit of fun with it,” a Boston Pizza spokesperson told Bitcoin.com. “Food and fun go hand in hand.”

Sun was pleased to contribute the funds in exchange for the publicity it would generate, and Boston Pizza appears to be capitalizing on the attention Sun’s theatrics have attracted.

“If we ever needed an affordable lunch option, this is the time,” the pizza ad states. “Art, meet value,” reads the caption for the accompanying image which is a pizza version of the Comedian.

The fact that a Canadian pizza chain is dedicating resources to the creation of advertisements that are pertinent to cryptocurrency events is a sign that the industry, which was previously considered fringe, is now firmly entrenched in the mainstream.

Sun claimed to be the largest investor in World Liberty Financial, the crypto project supported by the Trump family, just a few days before consuming the renowned banana. He invested $30 million in the project.

“TRON is committed to making America great again and leading innovation,” Sun posted on X.
