Burning Man-Inspired Festival in Bali Goes Full Web3

During the Lampu festival in Bali, inspired by Burning Man, Web3 was put to practical use through NFT ticketing and crypto payments

Finding tangible use cases that resonate with everyday individuals is frequently the determining factor in transitioning from niche technology to mainstream adoption. Web3 and related technologies, including nonfungible tokens (NFTs), are no exception.

Although these innovations have been enthusiastically adopted by early adopters and tech enthusiasts, the general public is still largely unaware of their practical advantages. Demonstrations of the seamless integration of these technologies into everyday experiences are necessary to bridge this divide, thereby providing genuine value and convenience.

NFT ticketing is a prospective real-world application of Web3 technology. NFT tickets offer a secure and verifiable method of event entry, unlike traditional tickets, which are susceptible to loss, counterfeiting, or scalping.

The authenticity and possession of each NFT ticket are guaranteed by its status as a distinctive digital asset stored on a blockchain. Additionally, this provides new opportunities for audience engagement and interaction, as NFT tickets may include exclusive content, merchandise, or access to special areas, in addition to enhancing security.

Additionally, the decentralized character of blockchain technology is exploited by NFT ticketing to establish a more transparent and efficient ticketing process. Event administrators can effortlessly oversee ticket sales, transfers, and resales while attendees enjoy a seamless experience.

Events can offer a modern, tech-savvy experience that appeals to both Web3 enthusiasts and those new to the technology, as well as reduce fraud and expedite operations by utilizing NFTs for ticketing. This innovative registration approach demonstrates the potential of NFTs to add genuine value to everyday activities, thereby facilitating the widespread adoption of Web3 technologies.

The Web3 treatment is administered at the Bali festival.
Belong, an NFT ticketing platform for communities and events, has implemented an additional real-world application of Web3 technologies by offering a branded ticketing platform for Lampu 2024. Lampu is an annual festival that attracts more than 1,000 participants from around the globe to bask in the enigmatic ambiance of Bali, having been inspired by the globally recognized Burning Man.

Belong, a participant in the Cointelegraph Accelerator, employs NFTs to enhance the attendance of events. The token-gated access infrastructure of the Web3 platform enables organizers and community proprietors to sell NFT passes for event participation in both fiat and crypto.
This year’s festival, held from February 29 to March 3, collaborated with Belong to provide a more efficient experience for its attendees, including ticket purchasing and in-event notifications.

Belong developed a landing page for the event that was branded with Lampu, which enabled the implementation of various UX optimizations to attract a wider audience than the Web3 ecosystem. Belong’s Lampu page enabled visitors to monitor event schedules, relevant communities, and real-time updates.

Cryptocurrency and Fiat Payment Alternatives

Festivals such as Bali’s Lampu commemorate music’s universality and draw a diverse audience. Terms such as NFT ticketing and crypto payments may appear overly technical to festival attendees not well-versed in Web3. Consequently, Belong designed the Lampu ticketing experience as a seamless integration of Web2 and Web3 technologies, emphasizing the introduction of adaptable payment options during the checkout process.

Visitors to the Lampu festival could pay for their experience using the USD Coin (USDC) at $1.00.

In addition to prevalent Web2 payment mechanisms, stablecoin is a cryptocurrency linked to the U.S. dollar. Users could directly select from Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Web3 accounts as purchase options on the payments page.

The potential transaction fees and the burden of currency exchange associated with traditional banking are eliminated for international attendees by having the option to pay with a stablecoin such as USDC. Furthermore, the incorporation of Web3 wallets is designed to accommodate the increasing number of crypto devotees by offering them a seamless experience interacting with the festival’s offerings.

NFT Vouchers Powered by Web3

Web3 magic was occurring in the background while consumers enjoyed a streamlined experience. Due to Belong’s offerings, Lampu administrators provided their visitors various ticket price tiers, including pre-audited ticket smart contracts with diverse pricing tiers.

Users will obtain their ticket in NFT form after a successful payment. The transaction ID will be accessible on Etherscan, and the NFT will be publicly visible on the OpenSea NFT platform. The gasless minting of NFTs enabled USDC payments without requiring additional cryptocurrencies, including Polygon MATIC ($0.5513) and Ether ETH ($3,382).

Following this, festival attendees were merely required to scan the QR code generated on the same platform to gain access to the designated area.

Jay, the founder of Belong.net, stated, “Our objective is to foster meaningful connections and engagement within communities in addition to delivering innovative software.”

The successful integration of Web3 and NFT ticketing at the Lampu festival in Bali illustrates the transformative potential of these technologies in the real world. Belong’s NFT ticketing demonstrated its ability to improve traditional event administration and attendee experiences by providing a secure, seamless, and engaging experience for tech-savvy attendees and those new to the Web3 ecosystem.

The future of Web3 is rooted in its capacity to seamlessly integrate into daily life, generating new opportunities for connection and engagement and providing improved experiences.
