ChatGPT’s app revenue has experienced a significant increase following the release of OpenAI’s new GPT-4o “omni” model in May
The mobile variant of OpenAI’s chatbot has achieved its highest revenue month to date, following a significant increase in revenue after the model’s release. The app generated $28 million in net revenue from the App Store and Google Play in July, as indicated by data from Appfigures, an app intelligence firm.
Notably, net revenue is the amount OpenAI retains after paying Apple and Google’s in-app purchase fees. The firm also discovered that the app’s revenue was 83% derived from Apple’s App Store, which has increased by 20% since June.
ChatGPT’s application generated $28.9 million in May, $34 million in June, and $39.9 million in July before the imposition of app store fees.
ChatGPT acquired the capacity to manage text, speech, and video by implementing GPT-4o. It also began providing quicker response times and the ability to interrupt the chatbot, making AI interactions feel more natural and human.
According to Appfigures, ChatGPT app revenue increased by 40% in May due to the demand for this new technology. Revenue has continued to increase steadily despite the modest decrease in growth that has occurred since then.
ChatGPT is estimated to have added 2 million new paying subscribers in July, according to Appfigures, based on the revenue generated by the app. This marks another new record for the mobile app.
Appfigures anticipates that growth will persist in the months ahead due to the introduction of ChatGPT’s new Advanced Voice Mode, which provides virtually real-time and realistic interactions.
