Decentralized AI Preferred by Most Americans, DCG Poll Shows

According to a Harris study by Digital Currency Group, 77% of Americans believed decentralized AI was “better for society as a whole.”

According to a Harris poll conducted by cryptocurrency venture firm Digital Currency Group (DCG), over three-quarters of Americans surveyed think decentralized artificial intelligence is more likely to foster innovation and advancement than its centralized version.

According to a May 29 survey of 2,036 Americans who were at least 18 years old, 56% of respondents supported decentralized AI, and 77% said it was “more beneficial to society overall.”

According to Julie Stitzel, policy vice president of Digital Currency Group (DCG), “Three-quarters of Americans agree that the transformative power of AI would benefit more people if it weren’t consolidated in the hands of a few major players.”

Notably, 67% of respondents stated that centralized AI is probably more prejudiced, and 63% said that they believe centralized AI is more likely to abuse user data and favor Big Tech businesses than the general public.

Decentralized AI has become more popular.

Important industry participants and AI specialists have underlined decentralized AI’s significance in countering Big Tech’s hegemony in the field.

DNA Fund co-founder and CEO Chris Miglino said that decentralized AI models have the potential to surpass Bitcoin in popularity.

As early as the 1990s, SingularityNET founder and CEO Ben Goertzel said last week that he thought AI should be decentralized.

Goertzel further stated that the decentralization of artificial general intelligence, or a hypothetical AI model with human-like intelligence, is essential for the betterment of humanity.

Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, declared on May 5 that the stablecoin issuer would shortly introduce an AI platform with integrated support for Tether’s USDT and BTC payments.

Earlier this month, the AI agent protocol Thinkagents.ai introduced a new open-source platform for creating on-chain agents that function independently across decentralized networks. Yuga Labs and Magic Eden are among the more than 70 cryptocurrency companies that have embraced the protocol.
