DOGS Token Donates $4.5M Unclaimed Airdrops to Charity

DOGS Token Donates $4.5M Unclaimed Airdrops to Charity

DOGS, a TON-based memecoin, plans to donate over 6 billion DOGS Token Donates $4.5M Unclaimed Airdrops to Charity tokens (around $4.5 million) to global charities via its new portal.

Following the inauguration of a charity portal in late November, DOGS, a memecoin that is built on The Open Network (TON), intends to donate more than 6 billion tokens, which are valued at approximately $4.5 million, to nonprofit organizations worldwide.

The new platform enables registered nonprofit organizations worldwide to submit applications for funding, “reflecting DOGS’ commitment to redirect a significant portion of unclaimed airdrop tokens toward charitable initiatives,” it told Cointelegraph.

“Over the course of the year, more than 6 billion DOGS tokens, equivalent to $4.5 million at the current rate, will be distributed to selected organizations, following a thorough approval process,” it added.

A $150,000 partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to neglected animals in the United States, is a component of the new initiative.

“Our partnership with Best Friends Animal Society is a call to action for the crypto community to help achieve a future where every shelter reaches the 90% no-kill benchmark by 2025,” said DOGS founder ‘Andrew.’

Through this collaboration, DOGS will fund one month of care for adopted dogs.

Pavel Durov, the co-founder of Telegram, was inspired to create the DOGS memecoin initiative by his iconic dog drawing, which served as a global symbol of Digital Resistance. His arrest in France in August prompted a TON rebrand.

The dog symbol is reminiscent of 2011, when Durov was directed to remove the posts of liberal intellectuals and dissidents.

In September, the DOGS token implemented an airdrop that attracted 17 million users. The Dogs Mini App on Telegram has been used by over 53 million users, and approximately 42 million individuals were eligible for the token airdrop, which was designed to raise awareness of cryptocurrency on the messaging platform and promote animal welfare.

‘Spotty,’ the emblem of DOGS, will serve as an ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society, appearing in marketing materials and events.

The Open Network has adopted Spotty as an icon, a concept that was initially developed by Durov as part of a charity auction.

DOGS reached an all-time high of $0.0016 on August 28, shortly after its inception, when it forced TON offline. However, it has since plummeted by 54.6% and is currently down 4% on the day as memecoins experienced a decline.
