DoorDash App Lets Users Import Grocery Lists

Even though grocery shopping online is usually convenient, it can be a bit of a bother to manually add each item to your cart one at a time

DoorDash, a restaurant and grocery shopping app, has introduced a new function that lets you sync your grocery list with the app in order to address this. Based on the things on your list, the app will then recommend goods for you to add to your cart. Lists from Apple’s Reminders app can also be imported by iOS users.

You must first choose the store you wish to shop at in order to utilize the new feature. Next, search for the “Create a list” or “Import a list” buttons. Each item will have a range of grocery options, such as red, yellow, and white onions, which you can easily add to your cart by tapping the plus (+) icon.

The functionality helps DoorDash stand apart from other significant U.S. competitors like Grubhub, in addition to being convenient for customers and a means of boosting app usage.

This is not the first time a comparable feature has been tried by a meal delivery app. The Indian online meal delivery service Swiggy was observed testing last month the capability of uploading pictures of shopping lists to its app.

In preparation for the holidays, DoorDash revealed this functionality and other enhancements on Monday. Among these is a collaboration with the culinary publication Bon Appétit, which provides free recipes and the choice to have ingredients delivered from a local supplier.

In addition, DoorDash has updated its search results to let customers look for products from several retailers and see prices and projected delivery times in one location. Currently limited to alcohol, this functionality will soon be extended to other retail categories, including electronics and cosmetics.
