ElevenLabs launched a service that lets you upload content to create multi-speaker podcasts, similar to Google’s NotebookLM
The ElevenLabs Reader iOS app from the firm has the GenFM feature. English, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and other languages are among the 32 languages that GenFM currently supports.
You must first upload a document, text, or YouTube video in order to utilize GenFM. After that, the software automatically selects two voices to produce a podcast. According to the company, more than a dozen voices are accessible.
When the app is creating an AI-generated podcast, you may notice some intriguing windows like “Sprinkling some umms” and “adding some thoughtful pauses.” ElevenLabs is incorporating human characteristics into an AI-generated podcast at a time when tools are assisting humans in eliminating “Ums” and “Ahs.”
Jack McDermott, who oversees mobile growth at ElevenLabs, told TechCrunch via email, “We discussed how much to introduce ‘ums,’ ‘ahs,”mhmms,’, laughter, and breathing similar human dialogue fillers or overlays — we’re aiming to strike the right balance of natural, human conversation and providing utility from the content.”
“We find [fewer] interruptions and more natural, insightful conversation flow when we look at exceptional long-form podcasts out there,” he stated. “Our ultimate goal in making audio narratives more accessible across voices and languages is that kind of experience.”
ElevenLabs intends to enable greater customisation in the future, including the use of numerous sources for the creation of a GenAI podcast.
Google introduced the capability to produce AI-generated dialogues with NotebookLM using the sources you supplied in September. The business allowed customers to personalize these AI-generated podcast outputs a month later.
In an effort to lure local AI talent, ElevenLabs announced earlier this month that it is spending $11 million in the Polish startup ecosystem and setting up an office in Warsaw that will serve as the company’s R&D center. Additionally, the startup announced its expansion into India, where it has recruited a business head and is now assembling a team. Additionally, the business introduced conversational AI bots for its clientele.
