ETHGlobal’s Bangkok hackathon showcased 713 projects, with judges like Vitalik Buterin selecting 10 finalists focused on gaming, AI, and DAO tools.

Over the weekend in Bangkok, Thailand, ETHGlobal, the Ethereum-focused events firm, conducted its most recent hackathon in the wake of Devcon. The ten finalists chosen by the evaluators are noteworthy for their emphasis on emerging sectors in the crypto industry, including memecoins, AI agents, and DAO tools. The projects engaged in a competition for a portion of the $750,000 reward pool, which is the most substantial in the history of ETHGlobal.

Will Binns, a Base core developer, wrote on X, “I am a judge at ETHGlobal and I am observing two distinct trends in the hundreds of projects I am reviewing: Tokenization and AI Agents.”

Gaming was a primary focus of the winning initiatives, as it secured four of the top ten slots. Metaloot, one of the winners, is a launchpad that was designed to connect games to Flow, while the others are games themselves.

LootGO offers “walk-to-earn memecoin hunts,” BubbleWars is a game that utilizes Ethereum referrals and is specifically designed for Telegram, and Dark Factory “integrates the automation of Factorio with the exploration of Dark Forest.”

Another area of emphasis is the use of DAO tools. MiniDAO is a Telegram tool that facilitates the operation of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The tool is comprised of a program that manages a wallet that is controlled by the group members.

DAOGenie utilizes AI agents to “automatically execute other tasks, handle communications, make purchases, and send donations” in accordance with the DAO’s votes. Industry.ai, another finalist, also employs AI agents to manage intricate blockchain operations. This involves the collaboration of four specialized AI agents.

A small number of projects persist, which range from infrastructure to DeSci. Zubernetes delivers “a distributed system for orchestrating secure containerized workloads with ZK-proof verification.” ETHPark-QR enables users in Thailand to resolve QR code parking tickets without the need for a local Thai bank account.

Lastly, Cat in a Box offers a platform that enables users to securely share private data and engage in decentralized science investigations, which are referred to as DeSci.

ETHGlobal has announced that the organization will host its subsequent hackathon in Taipei in April 2025, concurrently with ETHTaipei.
