The European Commission (EU) has questioned Pornhub, Xvideos, and Stripchat how they protect kids and stop illegal content
The Commission announced on Thursday that the companies must furnish comprehensive information regarding the measures they have implemented to evaluate and mitigate the risks associated with juveniles’ online activities and prevent the amplification of illegal content and gender-based violence by July 4.
The Commission mandates “details on age assurance mechanisms adopted by these pornographic platforms” in addition to other information.
The three pornographic content companies were included in the European Union’s list of companies subject to strict regulations under the new online content rules last year.
Companies must share data with authorities and researchers, conduct risk management, and undertake external and independent auditing by the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Additionally, they permit the Commission to impose penalties for inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information submitted in response to a request for information.
