First Web3 Laptop Promises Cold Wallet and Token Airdrop

Metavisio revealed their next Web3 laptop, which will power a future token airdrop and be equipped with a cold storage wallet.

The world’s first web3 laptop with an integrated cold storage cryptocurrency wallet and other capabilities will be available from the European computer manufacturer Metavisio; however, the product has yet to be given a name. According to the company, it intends to sell three laptop categories, each with somewhat different functions.

A future token airdrop will be given to laptop users, according to Metavisio.

Specifications of the Web3 laptop

The specifications of the laptops, which were developed by Thomson Computing, Metavisio’s daughter business, are still pending. The “secure enclave chipset,” a security feature that Apple has implemented, is the only thing that has been confirmed.

The company’s anticipated price range is relatively wide because the specifications are still pending confirmation. The laptops will range in price from €499 ($523) to €2,000 ($2,100). Furthermore, this line includes three distinct laptops: one for gaming, one for education, and one for “everyday” use.

Thomson has trouble setting a precise delivery date for the Web3 laptop since certain features, such as the laptop’s name, still need to be established. It promises that it would finish its unique operating system by Q1 2025, when the laptop prototype would begin development.

Because they lower the chance of hacking, cold storage wallets are considered safer than hot wallets like MetaMask or Phantom. This is due to the offline storage of the private keys needed to approve transactions. The ledger is a portable USB stick, the most widely used hardware solution.

According to Metavisio, using your laptop as your cold wallet is the next stage. As a result, the laptop will come with a built-in cold wallet that supports Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, and Bittensor, with more to be added later.

Stephan Français, the founder and CEO of Metavisio and Thomson, said that the Web3 laptop is made for a time when you will genuinely control your digital experience. “We are laying the groundwork to empower the next billion users by seamlessly integrating Web3 tools.”

Like the play-to-airdrop mechanism that swept the market this year, the laptop’s “Web3 OS” operating system will maximize crypto-native experiences, including dApp integration, the previously stated cold wallet, and rewarding users with tokens for completing particular tasks.

The launch of Metavisio’s token and the need for users who wish to obtain tokens to finish a know-your-customer (KYC) process were confirmed.
