Flow Unveils EVM Upgrade, Google, Ubisoft Partnership

Flow, the Layer-1 network that houses NBA Top Shot, has upgraded its mainnet to EVM equivalency and announced that Google and Ubisoft are now node operators.

Flow collaborates with numerous crypto and non-crypto firms, as the press release indicates.

Alchemy, Izumi, Moonpay, the NFL, the NBA, and Ticketmaster are among the node administrators that have been recently added. Additionally, Google and Ubisoft have been welcomed.

It also indicated that the Crescendo upgrade is operational on the Flow mainnet.

It facilitates the equivalency of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to enable seamless, multi-chain interoperability, which is anticipated to “power a wide variety of next-generation applications.”

The storage efficiency of Crescendo is doubled, and the memory utilization is reduced by 40%. Additionally, it supports ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens natively.

Furthermore, the programming language Cadence 1.0 is now integrated into Flow, which includes smart contracts. The team noted that it is intended to manage digital assets, such as crypto, on-chain art, and collectibles.

After all of this, the team asserted that the most recent upgrade “further advances network scalability, security, and decentralization while also establishing even more robust foundations for developers and businesses to build and operate applications for a wide range of applications, including DeFi and NFTs, DePIN, and payments.”

Roham Gharegozlou, co-founder and CEO of Dapper Labs, the team that developed Flow, stated, “It is difficult to overemphasize the immense amount of utility that will result from Crescendo, as well as the hard work that went into engineering it.”

According to Gharegozlou, this update has transformed Flow into a more interoperable and composable network. It facilitates the seamless movement of assets across Flow and other EVM-compatible ecosystems by allowing EVM architects to build directly on the network.

Flow Community Rewards and Dev World Tour

In addition to Crescendo, the team disclosed the Flow Community Rewards program. It is designed to assist developers in attracting users by incentivizing valuable participation throughout the network.

Users receive incentives for participating in applications, including increased liquidity, trades, or sales. The announcement stated it is “an opportunity for users to receive something in return.”

Exclusive offers, swag, incentives, and partner-specific rewards, including luxury merchandise, vacation getaways, and digital collectibles, are among the rewards.

Developers who contribute novel protocols and applications may also receive incentives.

The Flow team stated that the program promotes interactions that align with mutual development by aligning rewards with common mainstream consumer behaviors.

Flow “extends powerful capabilities” to Ethereum developers by introducing the Community Rewards and the Crescendo update.

The following are examples of gasless and scripted transactions that reduce friction, resulting in more intuitive and seamless user interactions with applications.

“The cumulative effect of all these upgrades involving Cadence and Crescendo is a superior experience for both builders and users,” Gharegozlou observed. The Flow ecosystem is “positioned for rapid expansion.”

Finally, the team disclosed the Flow World Tour, which comprises a sequence of onsite and virtual hackathons and events.

It commences this month and continues until the year’s end, featuring live and virtual events in key cities in the United States, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea.

As a result, Flow issued an appeal to developers to “create the next killer app” on the network.

In the interim, Flow is the location of several creators, including Genies, Cryptoys, Dapper Labs (NBA, NFL, Disney), Mattel (Barbie, Hot Wheels), LiveNation/Ticketmaster, and others.

To date, more than 40 million individuals have utilized a product on Flow, according to the announcement.
