A regulatory filing says that Josh Buckley, CEO of Product Hunt, wants to raise a fourth $250 million fund for his venture capital company, Buckley Ventures
Buckley has much smaller goals for this fund than his last one. In February 2022, when the VC world was in a bad market, he tried to raise a $500 million third fund. PitchBook data shows that he raised $337 million for it.
Some solo venture capitalists, like Lachy Groom and Buckley, were ready to offer startups better terms and higher prices than traditional VCs to get deals for startups that they wanted. This was during the 2021 fundraising frenzy.
Some of Buckley’s big bets didn’t pay off. For example, Airlift, a Pakistani shipping startup that failed about a year after Buckley helped lead its $85 million Series B, shut down in 2022. When asked for a response, Buckley didn’t answer.
