A series of 1,111 watches was released by Swiss watchmaker Franck Muller, which is linked to Solana wallets via on-watch QR codes
Swiss watchmaker Franck Muller is transforming the dream of wearing your Solana wallet on your wrist while flashing your wealth into a reality.
With a limited-edition series of timepieces inspired by Solana and an embedded unique QR code directly connecting to the user’s Solana address, the watch market is entering the Web3 ecosystem.
The Solana-inspired watch collection of the company is restricted to 1,111 units and will cost customers 20,000 Swiss francs (approximately $24,300).
Even though the timepieces have a distinctive design that may be appealing to members of the Solana ecosystem, their release coincides with a period in which it is becoming increasingly dangerous to display cryptocurrency-related wealth.
In the cryptocurrency industry, there have been numerous physical assaults this year. One particularly noteworthy incident involved the attempted kidnapping of the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, the CEO of the crypto platform Paymium, during the day. The assault was captured on video and disseminated on social media.
While the aforementioned abduction attempt was unsuccessful, the father of a crypto millionaire was abducted in the same city during an earlier incident. Police were able to rescue the man, but not before his finger was severed.
Earlier this year, David Balland, the co-founder of hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger, was abducted from his residence and subjected to similar treatment, along with his wife. A ransom that had been paid out was confiscated, and authorities subsequently rescued the couple.

In recent months, there have been numerous other assaults that are similar.
Franck Muller positions the collection as a “phygital” (physical-digital) symbol of identity and ownership in the crypto era. The watch is undoubtedly a component of the crypto mythos; however, it may be a collectible that investors are hesitant to display.
