Badiss Mohamed Amide, suspected mastermind of French crypto kidnappings, arrested in Tangier, Morocco, after 25 gang members detained.
Nevertheless, certain sources indicate that an additional mastermind is still at large in Morocco. Additionally, these violent kidnappings are establishing a global trend, and copycats may persist even after the gang’s demise.
Will the French Crypto Kidnappings Finally Come to an End?
The recent rash of French crypto kidnappings has resulted in a significant scandal, necessitating that national authorities enhance their security protocols.
As of yesterday, 25 individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 23, were apprehended and accused. Nevertheless, Moroccan authorities achieved a significant victory today by apprehending Bajjou in Tangier.
“I sincerely thank Morocco for this arrest, which demonstrates excellent judicial cooperation between our two countries, particularly in the fight against organised crime,” claimed Gérald Darmanin, France’s Minister of Justice.
French authorities issued an Interpol red notice against Bajjou, alleging him of “arbitrary detention of a hostage, false imprisonment, kidnapping, or arrest.”
He was explicitly identified by law enforcement as the mastermind of David Balland’s kidnapping; however, there is no indication of a concrete connection to other recent incidents. Nevertheless, they maintain that it was a single entity.

Nevertheless, certain French news agencies asserted that the 24-year-old Bajjou is not the sole leader of the organization. According to Le Parisien, the police are under the impression that an additional key member, a Franco-Moroccan male in his forties, is still at large.
Allegedly, he and Bajjou conducted operations from Morocco, recruiting French youths to execute the actual assaults.
Despite the validity of this theory, both nations are currently pursuing the remaining suspects. The majority of his gang members are in custody, which presents a multitude of opportunities for the authorities to convert one of them into an informant.
The critical inquiry is whether or not the devastation of this crypto kidnapping gang will halt the French crime spree. Brutal kidnappings are occurring in Argentina and the United States, and these crimes are becoming a global phenomenon.
The problem will become significantly more challenging if copycats continue attempting these brazen assaults.
