Google Boosts Thai Tech with $1B Investment

Google announced on Monday that it would spend $1 billion in Thailand to build a data center and cloud region

This is to meet the growing demand for the cloud and help Southeast Asia adopt AI.

Google said that a study of the project by Deloitte showed that the spending would create an average of 14,000 jobs each year until 2029.
As part of its plan to improve cloud services, Microsoft said in May that it would open its first regional data center in Thailand.

“Google’s cloud and data centre infrastructure in Bangkok and Chonburi will help meet growing demand for Google Cloud capabilities and AI innovations, and the company’s popular digital services – such as Search, Maps, and Google Workspace,” it said.

Its data center would be in an industrial area in Chonburi, and the Google cloud region, which is made up of hardware and software that serves both private and public organizations, would be in Bangkok, the country’s capital.
