Google is adding a new tool to help you book your next trip at the best price. The company said on Wednesday that Google Flights will get a new “cheapest” tab
Google has been putting what it thinks are the “best” choices at the top of the list based on price and ease of use up until now. Some people might be ready to give up some ease of use, though, if it means they can save money.
You’ll see the best prices when you click on the “cheapest” tab. You might see a link to a third-party booking site that offers a better deal than the flight itself. Another choice is to fly back to a different airport in the same city you flew out of to save money. For example, you could leave LaGuardia in New York and return to JFK.
Google says some of the choices in the new tab are more “creative.” These include longer layovers, self-transfers, where you book two connecting flights yourself, and the ability to book different parts of your trip through different airlines or booking sites.
The company says this feature is for times when price is more important than ease of use. The tab can help you find the cheapest prices, and then you can choose what trade-offs you want to make.
People worldwide will get the new tab over the next two weeks.
