Google Releases NotebookLM App for Android, iOS

Google launches NotebookLM as a mobile app for Android and iOS, bringing AI-powered research and summarization tools to phones and tablets

Google officially published the NotebookLM apps for Android and iOS on Monday, one day before the company’s stated rollout date and one day before Google I/O 2025.

The AI-based note-taking and research assistant has been exclusively accessible via desktop since its debut in 2023. The service has been made available on the go by Google.

The purpose of NotebookLM is to facilitate the comprehension of intricate information by allowing users to inquire about documents and other materials and offer smart summaries.

The app provides access to audio overviews and recordings generated by NotebookLM’s AI using your submitted source materials. For Audio Overviews, there is offline support and background playback.

The app also enables users to generate new notebooks and access those already created. Additionally, when viewing a website, a PDF, or a YouTube video on your device, you can select the “share” icon and choose NotebookLM to add it as a new source. In each of the journals, users can access sources that they have previously uploaded.

NotebookLM is also equipped with a light and dark mode that is implemented by the user’s device’s system settings on Android and iOS.

In light of the launch’s schedule, Google may disclose additional information regarding the application during its I/O keynote on Tuesday.
