According to Chinese state media, Hong Kong International Airport resumed its regular operations on Saturday following hours-long disruptions in global computer systems due to an error in a security software update
The extensive IT disruption that occurred on Friday impacted various industries, including banks and media companies. Services have since resumed operations following the resolution of the outage.
CCTV, citing the Airport Authority Hong Kong, announced in a Weibo post that the passenger check-in systems of airlines, which were impacted by the global disruption, have resumed their normal operations.
On Friday, the airport authority announced that the afflicted airlines had transitioned to manual check-in, and that flight operations had not been impacted.
On Friday, 5,000 of the 110,000 scheduled commercial flights worldwide were canceled.
