ICP Boosts Blockchain Engagement

DecaHack, an event hosted by Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), underscored the significance of cultivating talent in the blockchain sector and the transformative potential of blockchain

Nigerian adolescents have been encouraged to participate actively in blockchain technology to improve global competitiveness.

During the second DecaHack cohort, which was conducted at the University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State, Adedayo Adebajo, co-founder of ICP Hub Sahara, an official branch of the Internet Computer Protocol ecosystem, emphasized the significance of interacting with blockchain technology. DecaHack is an initiative managed by the ICP and provides online blockchain training camps, a hackathon, and a stage pitch competition for prizes.

Motivation to Capitalize on ICP

Adebajo emphasized that the country’s future could be significantly impacted if blockchain is not adopted.

Developers can create decentralized applications (DApps) and non-fungible tokens on the Internet Computer, a public mainnet blockchain that is smart contract-capable.

The event, which unites blockchain enthusiasts, experts, and visionaries from all over Africa, is designed to promote networking, presentations, and discussions to enhance the technological landscape of the continent.

Building a Bridge Between Blockchain Interoperability

Ucheena Agams, Web3 ambassador for Arbitrum, examined how Web3 innovators could bridge the divide between blockchain and DApps in her presentation, “The Future of Interoperability.” His observations emphasized the potential of Web3 technologies to establish seamless connections between various blockchain platforms.

Agams explored the technical aspects of front-end development, emphasizing the important role of front-end developers in creating user interfaces and experiences for websites and applications. His presentation underscored the significance of front-end skills in facilitating the accessibility and usability of blockchain technology.

The competition administrators declared that the top five startups would receive equity-free grants totaling $25,000. Winners will also advance to the national grand finale, Nigeria’s most prestigious blockchain innovation conference. Additionally, all finalists will be granted access to ICP grant applications, mentorship, and advisory support.

The initiative seeks to prepare Nigerian adolescents for future success in the global digital economy by promoting their engagement with blockchain technology. This proactive approach is anticipated to enhance technological innovation, support nation-building initiatives, and guarantee that Nigeria remains competitive in the swiftly changing technology landscape.
