European social app Les Amis, designed to help women build friendships, expands to New York as it seeks to grow its global community.
Especially after relocating to a new city, it can be challenging to establish friendships as an adult. Modern technology is a blessing, and an increasing number of individuals are utilizing applications such as Bumble For Friends, Flox, and Timeleft to establish new friendships promptly.
Les Amis, an application, endeavors to distinguish itself by serving the mid-20s to early 40s demographic, with a particular emphasis on women, transgender, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Les Amis employs artificial intelligence (AI) to connect users with shared interests. He motivates them to participate in local events provided within the app, including pottery classes, book societies, wine tastings, and Pilates events.
After struggling to reestablish her social circle following her relocation, Anna Bilych (ex-PayPal) and her co-founder, Oleg Pashinin (ex-Google AI), developed the application in 2022.
The app, which was established in Europe, is presently being introduced to U.S. markets. It was introduced in New York earlier this month.

Les Amis (French for “friends”) is intended to facilitate the connection between users and individuals who share similar interests in their vicinity.
It is designed to be reminiscent of dating applications in that users must create profiles by selecting profile photos, writing a bio, and choosing from a list of interests, including poetry, gardening, yoga, martial arts, and more.
The matching procedure is facilitated by an AI assistant named “Amis” in the app. Users can engage in matching sessions every two weeks, during which the AI matches them with a potential friend based on shared interests.
It also facilitates connections with individuals in similar life stages, whether single, married, a mother, new to the area, or seeking to network with individuals in a similar career field.
The AI determines matches on Mondays, giving users ample time to converse and organize meetings later in the week.
Furthermore, the application includes an “explore” page allowing users to register for local events and experiences, including seminars, social gatherings, and recreational activities. It also recently introduced “Trips,” enabling users to travel in groups to destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, Iceland, and Morocco.

The program functioned on a membership-based business model, with fees that differed by city. For instance, the monthly payment in Amsterdam is €55, while in New York it is $70.
The membership includes an adaptable credit system that can be used to purchase experiences in any city where Les Amis is available. This allows members to attend events while traveling.
Les Amis is accessible on iOS and Android in numerous European cities, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Stockholm.
The app was introduced in Austin and New York in May last year for the U.S. markets. Next, Les Amis intends to expand to Boston, followed by Washington, D.C., next month, and Miami in October. Additionally, the roadmap includes a launch in Los Angeles.
It is crucial to acknowledge that Les Amis events are not presently taking place in New York; however, they will commence on August 25.
The application is currently in the acceptance phase and has received over 2,000 applications from users in New York.
The app has been installed approximately 120,000 times, and approximately 30,000 women have attended events. According to its reports, the company has also recently achieved an annual run rate of $1 million.
