Litecoin X Account Hacked

Litecoin X Account Hacked

Litecoin’s X social media account was briefly compromised on Jan. 11 by a scammer promoting a fake Litecoin token on the Solana network.

The X social media account of Litecoin was momentarily hacked on January 11 by a scammer who was promoting a fraudulent Litecoin token on the Solana network.

In a post that has since been deleted and was grammatically incorrect, the intruder stated that “LTC is now in Solana.”

The post included a contract address and a pump.fun hyperlink to the fraud token.

The Litecoin team announced in an update that it had regained control of the account and that the breach was the result of a compromised delegated account that has since been removed.

In recent months, there has been a series of account hacks on X that have led to the promotion of fake tokens or phishing links that are intended to take sensitive data and funds.

More X Accounts Are Being Hacked

On October 18, the X account of EigenLayer, the restaking protocol, was compromised in order to promote a fabricated airdrop campaign.

The hacker posted numerous malicious links from the account that promoted the “Season 2 Stakedrop” and claimed that they were derived from reallocated EIGEN tokens.

The EigenLayer team regained control of the account before the hacking occurred.

On November 3, rapper Wiz Khalifa’s account was compromised.

The perpetrator utilized the account to promote a fabricated celebrity memecoin known as WIZ, asserting that it was linked to the musical artist.

A similar intrusion occurred on Dec. 8 when a hacker gained control of the social media page of the Cardano Foundation’s X account in order to promote a fictitious token known as “ADAsol.”

The threat actor falsely asserted that the Cardano Foundation would discontinue supporting its native asset, ADA, as a result of a lawsuit filed by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during the incident.

The price of “ADAsol” plummeted by over 99% after the scam was exposed, and the phony token generated an estimated $500,000 in trading volume.

On December 26, Yat Siu, the co-founder of Animoca Brands, a Web3 company, was the victim of an X account breach.

The fraudster, similar to the other cases, utilized the account to promote a fraudulent token on the Solana network. This token, “Animoca Brands,” is a fictitious memecoin that is not associated with the renowned Web3 company.
