MapleStory Lifts Avalanche, Hits 1M Daily Transactions Twice

MapleStory Lifts Avalanche, Hits 1M Daily Transactions Twice

Since the Web3 transformation of the classic online game MapleStory on the network, Avalanche’s blockchain activity has skyrocketed.

Twice in a week, the Avalanche blockchain exceeded one million daily transactions, marking the first time the network has achieved this milestone since February 2024.

On June 1 and again on Saturday, Avalanche trades were the highest. According to data from blockchain analytics company Nansen, the week of June 2 had 5.8 million transactions, the most since early 2024.

The MapleStory Universe Avalanche observed on X significantly contributed to the rise in activity. Avalanche is the foundation for the Web3 game ecosystem known as MapleStory Universe. On May 15, MapleStory N, its debut game, was released.

In 2025, the blockchain’s daily transactions hardly exceeded 500,000 before the side-scrolling online role-playing game debuted on Avalanche.

In the 2000s and the first part of the 2010s, MapleStory became a cultural phenomenon among gamers. It functioned as an early metaverse for interacting with others, establishing friendships, and developing love relationships.

One of the earliest instances of virtual economies, in-game currency, tradable goods, and user-generated content was the original Web3 edition; these are features that blockchain technology now seeks to improve. Millennials in South Korea and Southeast Asia still find the franchise incredibly nostalgic.

Nexon is a seasoned game developer in Avalanche.

According to statistics compiled by BitcoinTreasuries.NET, Nexon, the developer of MapleStory Universe, a South Korean gaming behemoth based in Tokyo and the 21st-largest publicly listed corporate Bitcoin holder globally (BTC$107,220), has also contributed to the excitement around the game.

It has 1,717 BTC as of Monday, which it bought in April 2021 and has kept ever since.

With the game’s launch, the developer established the main currency of the MapleStory Universe, Nexpace Coin (NXPC).

NXPC has had trouble keeping up its speed despite early excitement. Shortly after its introduction, it hit an all-time high of $3.77, but as of this writing, it has dropped 64% to $1.34.

Avalanche is growing in popularity as a blockchain for gaming.

Since late 2024, Avalanche has been more popular in Web3 gaming. The release of Off The Grid, a shooter developed on its GUNZ network, which signaled a change in strategy to draw in more players than simply crypto natives, gave it a boost.

That story likewise covers the native Avalanche AVAX $20.84 token.

AVAX reached as high as $26 on May 14, the day before MapleStory N was released. Since then, it has dropped below $20, well below its December yearly peak of $54.
