Following Meta and Snap’s big augmented reality news, Microsoft has announced that the HoloLens 2 has been quietly taken off the market
People who are still interested can still pick up a unit until they run out. After that, the 5-year-old device won’t work anymore.
Microsoft told UploadVR that until the end of 2027, it will keep providing important security and software updates. The company hasn’t said for sure, though, whether a HoloLens 3 will happen.
Microsoft was ahead of the curve when it came to business AR. Companies like Apple, Magic Leap, and Meta are trying to catch up. However, reports of a new headset never came true because the company was cutting jobs.
