Reuters says that Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI who quit last month, is seeking venture capital funding for a new AI company
It is said that this startup will focus on making AI goods using its models. This round could bring in more than $100 million.
She wrote on X before she left that OpenAI’s most recent releases had “fundamentally changed how AI systems learn and reason through complex problems.” She said, “I’m taking a break because I want to make time and space for my exploration,” but she didn’t say what she would do next.
In 2018, Murati became the VP of applied AI and partnerships at OpenAI. Before that, he worked at Tesla and Leap Motion. In 2022, she was made CTO, and during the short time that co-founder and CEO Sam Altman was fired, she was named acting CEO.
Murati was one of several top leaders at OpenAI who quit this year. The company’s top research officer and vice president quit a few hours after she did. After a week, OpenAI announced that it had raised $6.6 billion in the biggest venture capital round ever.
