OpenAI apologized to its 200M users after ChatGPT went down following its integration with Apple’s latest software update.
Immediately following the integration of the AI chatbot into Apple’s most recent software update, ChatGPT experienced a network disruption, prompting the company to apologize to its 200 million active user base.
“We are currently experiencing an outage,” OpenAI affirmed in a Dec. 12 X post that they have identified the issue and are in the process of implementing a solution.

The incident occurred on the same day that ChatGPT was integrated into the most recent version of Apple’s virtual assistant Siri on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
The Apple integration has not been explicitly linked to the network outage, according to OpenAI.

It coincides with the integration of ChatGPT into Apple’s Apple Intelligence, which enables Siri to access ChatGPT to respond to specific inquiries, such as photos and documents, according to a statement from Apple on December 11.
