OpenAI to Use Condé Nast Content in ChatGPT

OpenAI partners with Condé Nast to integrate its content into ChatGPT, enhancing user access to premium stories

OpenAI has agreed with Condé Nast, the publisher of renowned publications including The New Yorker, Vogue, and Wired, to highlight stories from its properties in OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot platform ChatGPT and its search prototype SearchGPT.

The partnership’s terms were not disclosed. However, in a memo to staff, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch suggested that the “multi-year” agreement would entail payment from OpenAI in some capacity.

A spokesperson for Condé Nast has confirmed to TechCrunch that OpenAI will be granted permission to train on Condé Nast content.

OpenAI declined to respond.

Condé Nast is the most recent news organisation to reach an agreement with OpenAI regarding how its works are highlighted and utilised in OpenAI’s products.

The Associated Press, Axel Springer, The Atlantic, Financial Times, News Corp, and Time are among the other publisher partners of the AI venture.

TC recently wrote that these agreements are being made without the input of their reporters and editors, which is a source of dissatisfaction for some of those employees.
