Opera Neon debuts with AI workflows that automate shopping, form-filling, and coding tasks, streamlining everyday browsing for users

The browser is on a waitlist; however, the company has stated that users must subscribe to access it upon its release. Pricing information was not disclosed.

It is worth noting that the Opera Neon browser includes three new icons in its sidebar: Chat, Do, and Make.

Chat provides a chatbot interface that enables users to search the internet, obtain responses to their inquiries, and request additional information about the web pages they are currently viewing.

The company’s Browser Operator AI agent, which was disclosed in March, is implemented by Do. Locally in the browser, this AI agent can complete forms and manage your travel bookings.

The Make option is also noteworthy, as Opera claims it can generate games, websites, code fragments, reports, and more through text prompts.

The company stated that the AI workflows that facilitate this feature are executed via a virtual machine in the cloud. Consequently, Neon will perform tasks independently even if the user is inactive, and users can accomplish multiple tasks concurrently.

This is impressive on paper; however, these AI applications frequently fail to meet their advertised capabilities.

Opera is not the sole company developing AI agents for browsers; The Browser Company hinted at an AI-powered browser designed to automate tasks in December. Google is currently engaged in projects utilizing AI agents to retrieve search results and complete tasks.
