PwC to Become OpenAI’s Largest Enterprise Customer

On Wednesday, PwC announced that it will become OpenAI’s largest customer and first reseller of its corporate offering as businesses scramble to adopt and capitalize on generative AI

PwC intends to implement ChatGPT Enterprise, an enterprise-oriented iteration of the chatbot developed by MSFT.O, an AI startup sponsored by Microsoft, in a new tab.

The firm will provide ChatGPT Enterprise to 26,000 employees in the United Kingdom and 75,000 in the United States, as the Wall Street Journal first reported.

“We are actively engaged in genAI with over 95% of UK and US consulting client accounts, alongside discussing the use and implications of AI with many of our audit clients,” according to PwC.

It did not, however, provide information regarding the financial parameters of the agreement or its intentions to resell the AI product.
OpenAI has yet to respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

PwC disclosed that it has been developing bespoke GPTs to assist its staff with responsibilities, including tax return review and the generation of dashboards and reports.

According to the company, the OpenAI agreement expands upon PwC’s declared intentions to allocate $1 billion toward generative AI technology.

OpenAI has been endeavoring to acquire enterprise clients in addition to Microsoft.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, reportedly hosted hundreds of executives from Fortune 500 companies in April. Reuters reports that he and other executives presented AI services for corporate use, competing in some cases with Microsoft in San Francisco, New York, and London.

Earlier in May, News Corp (NWSA.O), the Wall Street Journal proprietor, engaged in a content agreement with OpenAI.
