Ramaswamy Leaves DOGE to Run for Ohio Governor, Musk Takes Lead

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy steps down as DOGE co-leader to pursue a reported bid for Ohio governor. Ramaswamy expressed confidence in Elon Musk‘s leadership while reaffirming support for President Trump.

Ramaswamy to fun for Ohio Governor

Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, will no longer co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Elon Musk. Instead, he is apparently going to run for governor of Ohio.

In a post on January 20, Ramaswamy said, “It was an honor to help bring DOGE into the world.” “I’m sure Elon and the team will be able to make government work better.”

Ramaswamy didn’t say much about his plans for the future, but US news sites like CBS News and The New York Times said that the businessman and author would soon say that he is running for governor of Ohio.

When asked about his support for President Trump, Ramaswamy said, “I’ll have more to say very soon.”

“Vivek Ramaswamy was very important in helping us make DOGE.” “He plans to run for office soon, which means he has to stay out of DOGE based on the structure we announced today,” Anna Kelly, a spokeswoman for DOGE, told the Associated Press.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s second term will end in January 2027. This is the end of his formal term.

Ramaswamy Exits DOGE Amid Controversy and Legal Challenges

On January 18, Ramaswamy shared again an X post from a fake account that used this image and said he was running for governor of Ohio. The pro-crypto Republican said it wasn’t “a bad idea.”

In the past few days, Musk told Politico that he wants Ramaswamy to leave DOGE. Politico talked to a Republican strategist who works with Trump’s staff and said that Ramaswamy “just burned through the bridges and he finally burned Elon.” “Everyone wants him to leave D.C. and Mar-a-Lago.”

The move was partly caused by Ramaswamy’s dislike of American society. He wrote on X in December that tech companies hire foreign workers in part because of a culture that has “praised mediocrity over excellence.”

The advice group, which is now only run by Musk and is named after his favorite cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, was officially set up by one of the many executive orders that Trump signed on his first day in office.

Government watchdog Public Citizen and other nonprofits sued DOGE just minutes after Trump took office, putting it in the firing line.

The cases say that DOGE breaks the Federal Advisory Committee Act by letting private people make decisions for the government without enough openness and oversight.

Trump announced DOGE soon after he won the election in November. Its goal is to cut government spending by firing a lot of people and cutting the budget.
