Rode Unveils Video Production Companion to Rodecaster

After the success of the Rodecaster Pro, Rode introduces its first video production device; enjoy the same ease of use you love from Rode’s audio products in a new video format

The Rodecaster Video has much tougher competition than the first Pro board. In this age of video-first, after the pandemic, many companies have released similar products. It also costs $1,119, almost twice as much as the Pro’s $600 price tag.

Rode wants to target the same type of beginner that bought the first Pro: people who want to improve their video production skills but aren’t ready to buy an entire pro rig.

The Pro is only for in-person audio podcasts. Still, the Video is for a more extensive range of things, from solo Twitch streamers to multi-person in-studio video productions. It’s smaller than the first one because it’s meant to be used in front of a computer instead of in the middle of a table for recording.

It has four HDMI inputs, two USB-C inputs, and two Neutrik jacks with pre-amps for XLR mics. This lets users switch between video sources in real-time. EQ is part of audio processing, including a compressor, a high-pass filter, a de-esser, and a noise gate.

Green and blue screens can be skipped automatically, audio can be switched between video sources, and stream to “all major platforms” over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and USB. It can also record straight to an external hard drive, which is attached.

CEO Damien Wilson says in a release, “For decades, our mission has been to empower creators with professional audio equipment that is also easy to get.” “Groundbreaking innovations like the Rodecaster Pro and Wireless GO have changed how people make content in a wide range of categories, making studio-quality audio solutions available to creators today.” With the Rodecaster Video, we’re doing the same thing for making videos.
