Today, Salesforce announced it would buy Zoomin, a corporate knowledge platform, also earlier this month; Salesforce bought Own, a data management company
Zoomin, which we’ve discussed a few times before, puts all of a company’s documents, like user guides and product lessons, in one place.
The deal’s terms were not made public. Salesforce thinks it will be finished in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2025, which ends on January 31, assuming all the normal closure conditions are met.
Gal Oron, Hannan Saltzman, and Joe Gelb started Zoomin in 2019 to help companies build self-service document search and support experiences. They use AI and big data to do this. Tech companies like McAfee and Dell and fast food chains like Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes are among the Israeli startup’s clients.
Seventy-three million dollars were put into Zoomin by investors such as General Atlantic, Bessemer Ventures Partners, Viola Growth, and Salesforce Ventures, the company’s venture capital arm.
Rahul Auradkar, EVP of unified data sources at Salesforce, says Zoomin will be added to Salesforce’s Data Cloud platform after the acquisition. This will allow for use cases like automating customer service exchanges using a company’s knowledge base.
Auradkar said, “Proprietary unstructured data is a powerful fuel our customers can use for AI agents and better customer experiences. And Zoomin’s proven expertise and technology will speed up Data Cloud’s innovation and help our customers get better value.”
After promising to spend an extra $500 million on AI startups through Salesforce Ventures, the tech giant Salesforce bought Zoomin.
