SpaceX Unveils $599 Portable Starlink Mini

SpaceX Unveils $599 Portable Starlink Mini

Starlink Mini, a more portable variant of its satellite internet product, was unveiled by SpaceX. It is compact enough to fit inside a backpack

According to an invitation sent to customers, the Starlink Mini kit was available for purchase for $599 among early Starlink customers.

That is $100 more expensive than the standard Starlink kit. Additionally, they could combine the Mini Roam service with their current service plan for an additional $30 per month. However, the data is restricted to 50 gigabytes per month.

This would entail that a residential client of Starlink on the standard service plan would incur a monthly expense of $150. The invitation stated that SpaceX’s objective is to decrease the cost of the equipment. As of now, there is no standalone Mini Roam plan.

“Our objective is to decrease the cost of Starlink for individuals worldwide who have been unable to afford or obtain connectivity completely,” it states.

“However, in regions with high usage, where Starlink Mini places an additional demand on the satellite network, we are offering a limited number of the Starlink Mini Kits to begin at only $599.”

The Mini antenna is exceedingly lightweight, weighing approximately 2.5 pounds with the pedestal. This is approximately 60% less than the weight of a standard Starlink dish. Additionally, the service offers maximum download speeds exceeding 100 Mbps.

The initial shipment of Starlink Minis is anticipated to arrive in July. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated on X that the Mini could be “a great low-cost option for a good backup Internet connection if your landline goes out,” which will undoubtedly appeal to travelers.
