Spotify Debuts Happy Gilmore Mini‑Golf Game

Spotify Debuts Happy Gilmore Mini‑Golf Game

Netflix and Spotify launch a golf-themed game to promote Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 classic, debuting July 25 on Netflix.

This partnership is a novel endeavor for Spotify, as the music platform has never previously collaborated with another organization to develop a gaming experience within its application.

Working with the streaming behemoth is noteworthy, even if only for a promotional campaign, as it could serve as a test to determine whether consumers agree with the experience, as gaming is an area that Spotify has largely neglected.

Additionally, the game offers a distinctive opportunity to increase engagement due to its association with a cherished cult classic.

According to Spotify, the game was created in collaboration with MiK Studio.

The Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament, a new mini-game, is exclusively accessible through the Spotify app. To participate, users must refine their golf swing by tapping on their device to finish all three courses.

The game also provides a distinctive audio-visual experience, including a personalized playlist of “happy” tracks explicitly curated for the user and audio excerpts from the movie that are played upon the completion of each round. In addition, players can find Easter eggs, including Happy’s signature hockey stick, boots, and an alligator.

Users have the option to view the official “Happy Gilmore 2” trailer and share their personalized playlist and final score on social media after the experience.

It is essential to mention that Spotify has previously launched a hidden game on its platform as an Easter Egg. This is the first time the company has collaborated with another company to create a gaming experience.
