Telegram Unveils Third-Party Verification, NFT Gift

As the platform advances blockchain innovation, Telegram introduces third-party verification and NFT gift features, resulting in a 5% TON price increase.

Third-party verification and NFT gift features have been implemented in Telegram’s inaugural update of 2025. Trusted third-party organizations will assign distinctive icons to verified accounts. These updates aim to improve safety and mitigate misinformation on the platform. In addition, chat app users can now convert digital gifts into NFTs, which are tradeable across any platform. The action underscores its dedication to enhancing the user experience and incorporating blockchain innovations, resulting in a price increase for TON.

Telegram has implemented third-party verification and NFT gift features

According to a TechCrunch report, Telegram implemented its inaugural update of the year on January 2, which comprised a third-party verification system. Reputable organizations, such as educational consortiums or regulatory bodies, can now verify accounts. A distinctive icon on these verified accounts will replace the traditional blue checkmark, guaranteeing increased transparency and security.

A decentralized solution for account authentication is provided by this new method, which is intended to reduce misinformation and scams, as the platform emphasized. Entities that have been verified must initially undergo a rigorous approval process, which includes identity verification and an application. Organizations can subsequently manage verifications by assigning or removing the verified status for their affiliates through the Bot API.

Additionally, the update enables the conversion of gifts into NFTs using custom backgrounds and icons. These gifts can be sent using Telegram Stars and purchased within the app or through the Fragment platform using TON wallets. The chat app charges a nominal fee to cover the costs of blockchain transactions, allowing users to trade these NFTs across multiple platforms.

The updated page verification guidelines mandate that accounts be active and noteworthy on at least two major social media platforms, such as TikTok or YouTube so that public figures and organizations can obtain official verification. In addition, verified Wikipedia pages or hyperlinks to official websites may be implemented. Before applying @VerifyBot, applicants must establish credibility by providing links to press articles or official pages.
